Getting your licence in WA, explained
The steps, the tests and the questions every Perth learner asks, in plain English.
From your learner's permit to your P-plates
1. Learner's permit (L-plates)
Once you have your learner's permit, start lessons early. Lessons are most effective when you are new to driving and have not picked up habits to unlearn.
2. Build your hours
Practise between lessons and log your supervised hours. We can supervise log-book hours and make them count across city, country and freeway driving.
3. Get test-ready
As your test date approaches, we run practice tests and prepare you on the actual routes at your test centre.
4. Practical Driving Assessment (PDA)
Sit the test in our car if you like; we pick you up, warm up with a short lesson, then drop you home afterwards.
5. P-plates
Pass, and you are on your way. Many students celebrate with a photo, and we love seeing them.
The PDA is booked through the Department of Transport
The PDA is booked through the WA Department of Transport. Tell your instructor your preferred date and we will get you ready for it, including the manoeuvres the assessor looks for, like reverse parking.
Holding an overseas licence?
You may need to pass the WA PDA. We help you understand local road rules and regulations, sharpen your driving and learn what the test is checking for.
